Well, they’re wrong.
Tax avoidance and fiscal recklessness have gone hand in hand right through this crisis. When (if) we get out of it, part of the post-crash ethos should be a greater sense of responsibility about paying taxes. And even if government doesn't close the loopholes (the latest absurd court ruling on Lloyds suggests they won't), we consumers can still do something about it. Start by asking the companies you have contracts with if they would qualify for a Tax Tick.
